Ovarian Hormone Regulation of Central and Cerebrovascular Function
Role Description: Menopause is associated with increased risk of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD), hypothesized to be mediated by reductions in vascular-protective estrogen. The proposed research and training plan will investigate the effects of estrogen deficiency on the vascular contributions to reductions in cerebrovascular function in healthy women without AD.
    Role: Primary Investigator

Ovarian Hormone Regulation of Central and Cerebrovascular Function
Role Description: Menopause is associated with increased risk of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD), hypothesized to be mediated by reductions in vascular-protective estrogen. The proposed research and training plan will investigate the effects of estrogen deficiency on the vascular and mitochondrial contributions to reductions in cerebrovascular function in healthy women without AD and using ex vivo tissues isolated from rats. Elucidation of mechanisms that contribute to increased AD risk in women is within the NIA’s mission to understand diseases associated with aging to improve and extend the life span.
    Role: Primary Investigator

CCTSI Child Maternal Health Mentored Pilot Grant
Premature Vascular Aging in Women following an In Vitro Fertilization Pregnancy
Role Description: The goal of this pilot application is to obtain preliminary insight into the role of premature vascular aging and hypertension status following an IVF pregnancy and underlying mechanisms related to oxidative stress.
    Role: Primary Investigator

Investigation of reduced Nitric Oxide bioavailability and vascular oxidative stress on cerebral blood flow in MENopausal women (NoMEN Study)
Role Description: The goal of this study is to characterize changes in central artery and cerebrovascular hemodynamics across the menopause transition and evaluate potential underlying mechanisms related to these changes.
    Role: Trainee
