    Dr. Gidwani is a health economist and Associate Professor in the Division of Health Care Policy and Research at the CU School of Medicine. Her work evaluates the impact of insurance benefit design or health policy on quality-of-care, value, and patient financial burden. As a quantitative researcher, she uses both quasi-experimental techniques and simulation modeling in her research. She has studied the following insurance types: Traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage, employer-sponsored insurance, Affordable Care Act insurance, Medicaid, and Veterans Health Administration (VA).

    Dr. Gidwani is an experienced Principal Investigator, having led many large studies comprised of multi-disciplinary teams. Her work has been published in leading journals including JAMA Health Forum, JAMA Network Open, Health Affairs, Health Services Research, and Medical Care. Dr. Gidwani is facile in using a number of large datasets, including Traditional Medicare, commercial insurance claims, HCUP NIS, Medi-Cal, Flatiron, CancerLinq, and VA data, among others.

    In addition to her faculty position at CU SoM HCPR, Dr. Gidwani is an Adjunct Senior Researcher at the RAND Corporation and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She also holds secondary appointments in the CU SoM Division of General Internal Medicine, the Division of Geriatrics, and in the Department of Health Systems, Management, and Policy at the Colorado School of Public Health. Dr. Gidwani serves on the Editorial Board of the journals Medical Decision Making, Medical Decision Making Policy & Practice, and Health Services Research. She also serves at the Research Director for the Division of Health Care Policy & Research at the CU School of Medicine.
