Overview Dr. Steven Lewis is double board certified and fellowship trained in OB/GYN, Anatomic Pathology and GYN Pathology. He has been in private practice, full time faculty and done basic science research simultaneously following graduation from CU SOM (with Honors) and residency training at Cornell's NY Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital. He was Assistant Clinical Professor in OB/GYN and Pathology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (Under Ralph M. Richart and in Private Practice with Harold E. Fox) and was the Head of Placental Pathology, an Associate Clinical Professor at University of South Florida (with Enid Gilbert-Barness) in both specialties as well. Following Private OB/GYN and anatomic laboratory practice Dr. Lewis was Chair of Public Programs at the Given Institute of Aspen Colorado under the direction of Drs' Richard Krugman and Bruce Paton. Currently Dr. Lewis serves at CU School of Medicine and maintains an academic position of Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Anschutz Campus. He has performed basic science research with David I. Hirsh, G. Barry Pierce, David M. Prescott, Harold E. Fox and Deborah Wolgemuth. Research has focused on technologies for embryo micro- manipulation (murine and C. elegans) which has lead to current IVF protocols, the discovery of a novel Homeo-Box gene transcript, and published the first description of the mechanism for vertical transmission of HIV in Humans-featured as a lead article in the Lancet (c) 1990. His current Text is Vol. 23 in Contemporary Issues of Surgical Pathology- "Pathology of the Human Placenta" (c) 1999 by Churchill-Livingstone.
