overview Lab focuses on the cardiovascular consequences of type 2 diabetes. The research is focused on understanding why exercise capacity is decreased even in uncomplicated diabetes and how to improve it since abnormalities are likely to be evidence of early manifestations of heart/vascular disease. This is clinical/translational research including exercise studies, vascular assessments, muscle biopsy and extensive MR assessment of mitochondrial function. I will be serving as a cardiology mentor for the 2018-2019 academic year.
