overview Dr Bergouignan is an integrative physiologist whose research focuses on the study of energetic and lipid metabolism regulation, core components of body weight control, and their regulation by environmental factors, i.e. physical activity and diet. She received her PhD in Human Physiology at the University of Strasbourg, France in 2008 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Human Metabolism and Obesity within the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado, USA, 2009-2013. She was the recipient of a 2014 Australian Endeavour Postgraduate Research Fellowship Award. She completed this fellowship at the Baker IDI in Melbourne where she has investigated some of the biological mechanisms underlying the relationships observed at the population level between sedentary behaviors and metabolic health. She also is the recipient of a US NIH Pathway to Independence K99/R00 Award to conduct an integrative study on the role of sedentary behaviors in the development of obesity and associated metabolic diseases, 2014-2019. Dr Bergouignan is now working at the University of Colorado with international collaborators to develop her research program in the burgeoning field of the physiology of sedentary behaviors.
