Relational Coordination in the Veterans Health Administration
Biography Overview The purpose of this project is to study and build relational coordination (RC) with the Veterans Health Administration (VA). Our short-term goal is to bring together VA researchers, operational leadership, and clinical staff and establish processes to study RC across diverse clinical settings (e.g. primary care, nursing homes), Veteran populations and Secretary health priority areas (e.g. access to care, the VA MISSION Act, modernization of services, opioids and pain management, suicide prevention, etc.). This will be achieved through strategic dissemination efforts, open access membership in the Relational Coordination Research Collaborative (RCRC) at Brandeis University to all VA researchers, and piloting of the RC Survey via the RC Analytics survey platform with five VA funded research projects. Our long-term goal for this work is to establish RC as a crucial concept to support the VA transformation to high reliability, establish RCRC as a long-term VA partner organization, and RC Analytics as a VA-supported survey platform for VA research and operational projects.
