LoriWalkerLori Walker39.74515960000000-104.840628000000002603Walker, LoriMy work is focused on two distinct aspects of cardiac function. The first project focuses on the dedifferentiation of adult cardiac myocytes. We have recently identified a novel protein that induces adult myocytes to dedifferentiate to a neonatal, proliferative phenotype. Elucidating the signaling pathways involved and identifying inhibitors of this process promise to significantly advance our understanding of the pathogenesis of cardiac dysfunction. The second project in my laboratory is aimed at elucidating the effects of cannabis on cardiac health. We have recently shown that cannabis users are protected from death following MI. However, a prospective project examining the effects of cannabis consumption on cardiac rate and rhythm suggests that people with pre-existing cardiac disease may have an increased risk of arrhythmias following cannabis use. We have an ongoing clinical study as well as basic science efforts into the mechanisms of cannabis induced changes in vascular and cardiac contractility. I will be serving as a cardiology mentor for the 2018-2019 academic year.303/724-5420Associate Professorprns:coAuthorOfcoauthor ofprns:endDateend dateFaculty Rankprns:fullNamefull nameprns:grantAwardedBygrant awarded byprns:hasAuthorListauthor listprns:hasFacultyRankhas faculty rankprns:hasNetworkhas networkprns:hasPublicationVenuepublished inprns:informationResourceReferenceinformation resource referenceprns:isPrimaryPositionis primary positionprns:latitudelatitudeprns:longitudelongitudeprns:mainImagephotoprns:maxWeightmaximum weightprns:medlineTAjournal title abbreviationprns:meshDescriptorUIMeSH DescriptorUIprns:meshSemanticGroupNameMeSH semantic group nameprns:minWeightminimum weightprns:numberOfAuthorsnumber of authorsprns:numberOfConnectionsnumber of connectionsprns:numberOfPublicationsnumber of publicationsprns:personIdPerson IDprns:personInPrimaryPositionperson in primary positionprns:physicalNeighborOfphysical neighborprns:positionInDepartmentposition in departmentprns:positionInDivisionposition in divisionprns:predicateNodepredicate nodeprns:principalInvestigatorNameprincipal investigator nameprns:publicationDatepublication dateprns:similarTosimilar toprns:sortOrdersort orderprns:startDatestart dateprns:uniquenessWeightuniqueness weightprns:yearyearAcademic ArticleArticleDocumentbibo:pmidPubMed IdentifierAddressvivo:address1address line 1vivo:address2address line 2vivo:address3address line 3vivo:addressCitycityvivo:addressPostalCodepostal codevivo:addressStatestate or provinceAgreementvivo:authorInAuthorshipselected publicationsvivo:authorRankauthor rank in publicationAuthorshipDepartmentDivisionGrantvivo:hasResearchArearesearch areasvivo:hasResearcherRoleresearch activitiesvivo:hrJobTitleHR job titleInformation Resourcevivo:linkedAuthorlinked authorvivo:linkedInformationResourcelinked information resourcevivo:mailingAddressmailing addressvivo:overviewoverviewvivo:personInPositionpositionsvivo:phoneNumberphonePositionvivo:positionInOrganizationposition in organizationvivo:preferredTitlepreferred titleResearcher Rolevivo:researcherRoleOfresearcher role ofRolevivo:roleContributesTocontributes tovivo:sponsorAwardIdsponsor award idrdf:predicatepredicaterdf:typetyperdfs:labellabelConceptAgentfoaf:firstNamefirst namefoaf:lastNamelast nameOrganizationPersonAuthorship 824494Authorship 886135Authorship 910672Authorship 120849525416385Bruns DR, Brown RD, Stenmark KR, Buttrick PM, Walker LAAmerican journal of physiology.
