    Our laboratory is interested in how the loss of tumor suppressors promotes the development of lung cancer but potential creates targetable tumor phenotypes. We are currently studying how loss of the tumor suppressor Smad4 reduces DNA repair, rendering lung cancer cells more sensitive to treatment with DNA topoisomerase inhibitors and inhibitors of DNA repair by non-homologous end joining. Our lab uses human lung cancer samples, sophisticated mouse models of lung cancer, and lung cancer cell lines to address these questions. Other areas of interest include lung cancer screening and the diagnosis and management of solitary pulmonary nodules.
